From March 2004, the members of Masnach Deg - Aberystwyth - Fairtrade, the local Fairtrade group, have campaigned for Aberystwyth to receive and to retain  Fairtrade Town status.

A group of students from Penglais School have played an important part in this campaign.

The approval of the Fairtrade Foundation was received and Fairtrade status was declared on St. David's Day 2005.

Arnold SmithThe Fairtrade group are delighted by the interest that local primary schools are showing in Fairtrade and give their full support to moves for them to achieve Fairtrade School Status.

They are also very willing to be used by teachers and pupils as a resource contact on Fairtrade issues.

Local Traidcraft Fairtrader

Arnold Smith is generously offering to pass on his 10% discount from Traidcraft for a 6 month period to schools wishing to trial Traidcraft products.

The Co-op

The Co-op Community Liaison -Duncan Rees can be contacted to obtain an application form for a Co-op Community Card that will entitle you to a 10% discount on purchases for school including all Fairtrade Products.
