Fairtrade Conference

The School Council with Joan from Kenya in front of the Fairtrade banner.
The School Council went to the Fairtrade Conference in Penglais School. We learnt a lot of new things about Fairtrade.
We learnt about how cotton is grown.

We tasted Fairtrade honey from the honey factory in Talybont. It was delicious!!

We found out where the Fairtrade food we can buy comes from.
The pupils from Penglais School showed us on the map of the world.
Fairtrade food comes from all around the world!

The best part of the Fairtrade Conference was tasting the food.
We especially liked the chocolate! Yum, Yum!
Buy Fairtrade chocolate, it's great!

The Fairtrade Conference was very interesting and we learnt a lot.
We are going to try our best for Ysgol Llangynfelyn to become a Fairtrade School.
Come back and visit us soon to see how we are getting on!

We have done these things:
Members of the School Council 'stealing' the staff tea and coffee.
We looked to see which type of tea and coffee the staff had in the Staff Room.
There was one Fairtrade hot chocolate there.
The teachers have promised to buy Fairtrade tea and coffee when these have finished.
Thank you very much Mr Davies, Mrs Daniell, Mrs Nelmes, Miss Foulkes and Mrs Morgan!!!
We will be coming to check soon!!!

Fair Trade Picnic
We took part in the World Record Breaking Fair Trade Picnic.
The children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 made some rice krispie cakes using Fair Trade chocolate.

We were lucky enough to have a selection of Fair Trade food kindly donated to us by Morrisons.
Thank you very much Morrisons!!

We had orange and apple juice, Geobars, bananas and chocolate.

We had our picnic on our field under the trees because it was raining.
We invited the children from Taliesin Play Group and Cylch Meithrin Talybont to join us.
We had 50 children and adults at our picnic.

Nansi, Saran, Teilo, Jayden, Morgan, Jay and Thomas enjoying the picnic.

Llangynfelyn Summer Barbeque
We had our annual summer barbeque in July and members of the Fair Trade Commitee sold Fairtrade bars and juice. They also talked to parents about Fairtrade.

Assembly
The children were asked to bring into school any wrappers or packaging from Fairtrade items. We put all the packaging on display. We were very pleased with the large selection of different products brought from home. We managed to fill the whole display area. Well done everyone!

Fairtrade School Dinner
6th March 2008
We had our first ever Fairtrade School Dinner on the 6th of March. Mrs Hicks and Mrs Ellis had been busy making us a lovely roast dinner of Welsh beef. For pudding we had a Fairtrade banana split made from Fairtrade bananas and Fairtrade chocolate.

Our School Cook - Mrs Hicks
We all enjoyed our Fairtrade dinner and we will be writing to Ceredigion County Council to thank them and to see if we can have more Fairtrade products for dinner.

Fairtrade Feast during Fairtrade Fortnight
We had a Fairtrade Feast in school. It was also World Book Day. So the children dressed-up as characters from countries around the world. The children wanted to do some cooking activities, so we did! We made a list of the ingredients and Mrs Nelmes went shopping. The food came from all over the world too! Ghana, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Cuba and Uganda. Most of the food was Fairtrade. The whole school took part from Reception to Year 6. We split into 6 groups and each group made something delicious. At the end we tasted the food and had a drink of Fairtrade juice.
